With a vision to empower Malaysian youth and young professionals in science, engineering, technology and innovation (SETI) in building towards disaster resilience at the national, regional, and global levels, this platform aims to support national disaster risk reduction and climate change initiatives by strengthening partnerships, interaction, networking, communication, discussions, and the sharing of best practices and lessons learnt among the youth and young professionals in SETI. The focus of U-INSPIRE Malaysia was mainly on policy intervention, knowledge sharing, capacity building, innovative science communication, and technology transfer.

This platform was initiated with the existing youth and young professional groups in Malaysia, who shared an interest in disaster risk reduction and climate change. The platform and all activities are open to all youth and young professionals, not limited to physical science but also include those from the social sciences and humanities background. This can be further expanded in the future to include groups such as professional bodies, and others. The main source of communication will be the platform鈥檚 official mailing list, managed by the facilitator. The information generated by the platform is also shared on relevant websites and other online platforms.
